Summit Field Analytical Services is a Utah-based company focused on providing quality data solutions in remote field settings in both Energy and Environmental sectors. Founded in 2007, the company provides mudlogging and geosteering services for oil, gas, potash exploration and development around the Rocky Mountain region (UT, WY, NV, ND, MT, CO, NM, ID). Our proximity to the Uintah Basin has afforded us the opportunity to provide our mudlogging and geosteering services on over 600 basin wells that includes 78 horizontal wells (and counting) in the emerging lower Green River/Wasatch Fm. play.
Mobile environmental laboratory service was launched in 2015 to provide field analytical data for environmental investigative, remediation, and emergency response projects. At the request of the Underground Storage Tank branch of the Utah Division of Environmental Response and Remediation, Summit-FAS applied and qualified for licensure under the Utah-NELAP (National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program) becoming the first-ever mobile laboratory licensed in Utah.
All of our personnel are company employees with greater than 85% of our energy sector field employees holding Geoscience degrees (Geology, Environmental Science). They are trained in mudlogging, Geosteering, analytical procedures for gas detection by dual flame-ionization detector (FID)/ gas chromatography, integration software, real-time mudlogging software, and operation and troubleshooting of analytical equipment. Our Geosteering staff are experienced in regional and local geology, structure and lithology, using Geosteering and Excel software to track progress, build cross sections, and set targets, incorporating standard and advanced LWD data, and communication with onsite and office personnel.
Our environmental mobile laboratory staff are trained to analyze and report compliance field results for soil and water samples using Utah and US EPA approved test methods. The field data is used to support active site investigation and remediation programs primarily to delineate the range and depth of soil and water contamination. Field screening methods (non-compliant) are available for select chlorinated VOC’s, Pesticides, PCB’s, and metals by field portable EDXRF.
